It doesn't help during check in for international flights, as paper tags are still issued, but I do still use them for those flights, as my bags (some tagged with gold and some with silver Q Tags) do seem to be off loaded a bit quicker than most other passengers (at least when returning to Australian airports), even when I have dropped back to.

I generally fly with Emirates on a QF code-share, but I would assume the same thing applies even if you are flying with QF. So, nowadays, I remove the tag.
